DvCreators mentions Four Corners. Enjoy these lines. FOUR CORNERS OF SUBURBIA Writer and director Elizabeth Puccini finds it ironic that “Four Corners of Suburbia,” a story about young adults struggling with the meaning of their lives as they spend a weekend together on a secluded island in Maine, ended up a feature film. “When people read my screenplays they always commented on how much they read like plays, so when Four Corners’ was produced as a play and the director and producers were telling me what a great film it would make, I realized I shouldn’t listen to anyone anymore.” ShowBusiness Weekly raved about Double Helix Theatre Company’s production of the play at The 30th Street Theatre (New York) back in the fall of 2000, calling it “exciting…an enjoyable experience” revealing “the thoughts deep in your mind.” Even when the play went on to be named the First Runner-up in the Women’s Division at Stages Repertory Theatre’s 2001 Southwest Festival of New Plays, Puccini failed to consider it as a film. Instead she immediately began work on another script and only after finishing a draft six months later, did she finally listen to her colleagues and seriously consider adapting the play for the screen and directing her first feature film.DvCreators
